Obamacare mandates for children goes into effect 9/23/2010. Starting on that date, health insurance companies will not be able to deny coverage to children under the age of 19 regardless of their medical conditions. There are other provisions that go into effect on that date impact all newly issued policies for adults and children.
All of these changes will have a noticeable effect on rates.
As such, most Georgia health insurance companies have made application to the Georgia DOI for approval of new plans and higher rates.
As of today, none of those plans have been approved.
One carrier has an exemption to wait until January before Obamacrap mandates go into effect and will not be making changes until the end of the year.
Today we received notice that BCBSGA (Blue Cross of Georgia) expects to announce new plans and higher rates sometime next week.
It is not too late to make application for plans with effective dates up to 9/22/10.
