August 14, 2010 will be the last day to quote Blue Cross of Georgia health insurance plans. BCBSGA has asked the Georgia Dept. of Insurance to approve new plans and rates that reflect increases due to Obamacare.
Beginning on 9/23/2010 all health insurance companies will be required to issue coverage to children under the age of 19 without regard to their existing medical conditions. This necessitates an increase in rates to accommodate this mandate.
Most health insurance companies have ceased to offer "child only" health insurance. No word if Blue Cross will follow this pattern.
As soon as we know details on the new BCBSGA plans and rates, we will post a notice on this blog.
