Child Only Health Insurance

Child only health insurance. Looking for child only major medical insurance in Georgia? Thanks to Obamacare it is almost impossible to find children only health insurance. The folks at Assurant have a better idea. Children up to the age of 19 can now obtain a #child only health insurance plan with basic benefits.

STM Option

There are two STM (short term medical) plans available for children under the age of 19. These are your only options in the individual market. Prior to Obamacare, a parent could purchase a permanent, traditional major medical policy with any carrier.

 
Now your only choice is a 6 month medical plan.

HCC usually has a little lower premium.
 
Assurant allows you to apply using the oldest child as the primary applicant and younger children as dependents.
 
HCC requires a separate application for each child under age 19, the child must always be listed as the applicant.
 
Optional Coverages
 
You can purchase a dental plan using the Assurant link for supplemental coverage.
 
If you want accident coverage you will have to apply to Assurant as the primary and add the child as a dependent.
