A last minute deal was struck allowing United HealthCare of Georgia clients to continue using St. Joe’s as a par provider. According to the AJC
Saint Joseph’s asked United Healthcare for a reimbursement increase that would cover important procedures such as outpatient implants and state-of-the-art minimally invasive robotic procedures.
Hospital officials said they have obtained an average 10 percent discount on reimbursements compared to other major hospitals in the area.
This is a good deal for everyone.
UHC got a better deal than St. Joe was demanding before talks broke down.
St. Joe can keep thee 8500 or so patients funneled through UHC.
Patients are not penalized for using a non-par provider or forced to use other providers.
