How Much Are Taxpayers Spending to Fund Obamacare Enrollments?

If you are in the 50% of Americans that pay income taxes (the other half don’t pay any income tax), you should be asking yourself. funding obamacare enrollmentsHow much are we spending to fund Obamacare enrollments?

Well, if you have to ask . . . .

First consider, the gubbamint chalks it up as a sale and spikes the football if someone makes it through the torturous enrollment process and puts an order in their shopping cart.

In the real world, this is not a sale.

If you have ever gone shopping on Amazon, but changed your mind before completing the purchase, the next time you log in those items are still in your cart.

Amazon doesn’t count it as a sale until you actually PAY for the items.

But the gummit doesn’t operate in the real world. Heck, they don’t even use real money but pay for most things with lines of credit and IOU’s.

But I digress . . .

So how much are you and I, the real taxpayers, spending to fund Obamacare enrollments?

In her testimony before Congress today, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius provided an updated dollar amount for the cost of $677 million. In addition to the $677 million spent on the federal Obamacare website, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has shoveled$4.5 billion of taxpayer money to promote Obamacare on the state level.

My rough math skills say $677 million + $4.5 billion works out to almost $5.2 billion.

And what to we have to show for this kind of money?

HHS also released updated “enrollment” figures for Obamacare. According to the agency 364,682 people have “selected a plan” – the equivalent of putting an item in your online shopping cart and leaving it there.

Selected a plan.

No, they have not PAID for their purchase. Just said “I think this is what I want”.

Like the list a small child gives to the department store Santa.

That works out to $14,000 per shopping cart.

Not sale.

Shopping cart.

Can you say waste, fraud and abuse?

Taxpayers (the 50 percenter’s) have paid $14K per cart to fund Obamacare enrollments.
